Scholarship Fundraising Raffle

This year’s fundraiser was new for us, a raffle for travel (or cash). A total of 202 tickets were sold, with 114 of those purchased by members. In addition to 202 tickets, we also received $1,100 in donations, for a total of $21,300.

The raffle was held at our scholarship luncheon, with Velma Coolidge doing the honor of pulling the winning ticket. The winning ticket was purchased by Cody Parish, of Cavenaugh Hyundai. Cody and his wife have decided to take the $5,000 cash prize, giving the branch $6,000 more for the scholarship fund. Karen Vinyard was the AAUW salesperson on that ticket sale!

Three additional prizes were raffled off. A beautiful Tiffany covered candy dish, designed for and donated by Tauck, was won by Janet Holt (ticket sold by Mary Eliades). Two gift baskets were also given away, donated by past member Bonnee Hagen. AAUW member Kristie Gipe-Golden won the lavender bath basket, and Sue Smith of Village Vacations took away a wine basket won by her son. We thank Sue for her help designing the raffle program.

So how much did the branch raise for scholarships? We know we have made $10,000. And once we know the first place winner’s decision regarding a trip or cash, we will be able to report our final results.

Thank you to all for your efforts in selling tickets. Special thanks to Carol Freeland, Sue Luerssen, Karen Vinyard, Meg Koziar and Becky Gifford, whose efforts resulted in more than half of all tickets sold.
